Muscat: An Omani teenager's two-week battle for life has ended after he succumbed to injuries sustained during a horrific road traffic accident two weeks ago in Al Afiyah area of Izki Wilayat in Oman.
Seven students were killed on the spot when a minivan, carrying 14 students between the ages of 10 and 20, overturned. The minivan was travelling to Bahla from Muscat when it skidded after crossing the Al Afiyah flyover, according to a Royal Oman Police (ROP) press release..
With the death of 14-year-old unnamed national, the death toll from the Izki accident has reached eight. The condition of the other injured is unknown.
Another victim of another accident also died in hospital. The Asian was hit by a vehicle when he was riding his motorcycle in Musanah, about 98km north to Muscat, according to the ROP release.
Meanwhile, the ROP has continued their crackdown on illegal immigrants and arrested 44 infiltrators of Asian nationalities from Sohar.
