Muscat: Yousuf Bin Alawi Bin Abdullah, Minister Responsible for Foreign Affairs, affirmed that that the importance of the Omani role in Yemeni negotiations in Kuwait stems from the nature of relations binding the sultanate with each of the warring parties.
He added that disagreement between the two parties is among the means to reach consensus and reconciliation to rebuild Yemen, reported Oman News Agency.
Bin Abdullah explained that the constant efforts being exerted by Oman in relation to pushing the ongoing Yemeni negotiations in Kuwait forward come as per the royal directives of Sultan Qaboos Bin Saeed.
He pointed out that the United Nations Envoy for Yemen, as well as 18 countries are taking part in these negotiations, would undoubtedly contribute in helping conflict parties reaching the prospective consensus.
On Wednesday, the Emir of Kuwait, Shaikh Sabah Al Ahmad Al Sabah has called Yemeni to resume peace talks, after the government delegation threatened to withdraw of the UN-brokered negotiations. Al Sabah urges them to reach positive talks, reported Kuwaiti News Agency (Kuna).
The negotiations have kicked off on April 21; aim to reach a solution for the ongoing conflict in Yemen for more than a year
However, the negotiators have been unable to achieve any serious progress over the past four weeks.
