Muscat: Spectacular fireworks filled the sky over Maidan Al Fatah, which was bathed in pyrotechnics of brilliantly crafted light and laser show in Muscat’s Wattayeh district on Wednesday late night as part of ruby anniversary of Oman’s National Day.

Sporting an impressive military uniform, the country’s leader Sultan Qaboos Bin Saeed, who is also the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, watched the musical ‘Loyalty and Obedience march’ performed by the Omani military as he was flanked by the Royal Family members, ministers and other senior officials.

Five corps, namely the Royal Guard of Oman (RGO), the Royal Army of Oman (RAO), the Royal Air Force of Oman (RAFO), the Royal Navy of Oman (RNO) and the Royal Oman Police (ROP), each comprising 140 personnel, gave guard honour to Sultan Qaboos to signal the start of three-hour of spectacular and breathtaking show.

The red helmets team from the RGO created a formation in the shape of 40, reflecting the 40th National Day. About 460 RGO personnel were given a round of applause by the packed stadium for this tableau.

The world’s only camel mounted bagpipe band was cynosure of all eyes as 440 Omani men and women paraded their impeccable talent as different bands gelled well to produce soothing music to the ears.
