Muscat: A man has been arrested for allegedly stealing air conditioners from mosques in Seeb area of Muscat, the Royal Oman Police (ROP) said in a press release.

"The accused had stolen six air conditioners from three mosques," a ROP Public Relations Department spokesman said.

Seeb Police Station received a tip about the theft and investigations led police to the suspect, who reportedly confessed and admitted that he had sold the stolen air conditioners in the local market.

The case has been referred to the Public Prosecution for investigation.

Addicts arrested

Meanwhile, police have arrested two drug addicts on charges of stealing a vehicle and valuables in Seeb area. "An expatriate had filed a complaint with the Seeb Police Station that his car was broken into near his house and cash and other valuables were stolen along with the parked vehicle at night," the police spokesman said.

After inquiries, the Department of Criminal Investigation at the Seeb Police Station arrested two suspects.

Police said that the suspects were under the influence of narcotic substances at the time of their arrest.

The stolen vehicle has been returned to the owner and the suspects have been referred to Public Prosecution for questioning.
