Muscat: Sayyid Fahd Bin Mohammad Al Said, Oman’s Deputy Prime Minister for the Council of Ministers, has assured that rights of all citizens in the country were secured.
He was speaking during a meeting with the members of the National Commission for Human Rights (NCHR) to mark the first anniversary of the constitution of the commission on Sunday.
The Deputy Prime Minister reiterated the respect for human rights, justice and complete equality among all citizens in their rights and obligations accorded in Oman.
“The human rights in the Sultanate are secured by the principles of the Basic Law of the State and national laws and regulations as also by the Sultanate’s joining a number of international conventions and charters,” Sayyid Fahd pointed out.
He pointed out that out of Oman’s constant endeavour to enhance the internal pillars that secure continuous life with dignity for all citizens, the human rights commission has been established so that the citizen will rest assured that his rights are always receiving the attention of the state.
The senior Omani leader said that the Commission advises the respective departments in the state regarding all the issues related to human rights. “It also exchanges opinions with regional and international organisations in this field,2 he added.
Sayyid Fahd praised the activities accomplished by the Commission perfectly in co-ordination with other state institutions.
The NCHR members present at the meeting, including its head Mohammad Bin Abdullah Al Riyami, affirmed that human rights have always been secure in the country since the beginning of the blessed Renaissance and the Omani individual is the main pillar for development.
“The Omani man enjoys living in a secure and stable environment,” a member said.
