Muscat : An attempt to smuggle a large quantity of alcoholic beverages through the Wajaja border post was foiled by Royal Oman Police (ROP), according to a press release today.
According to police, a truck driven by an Arab national was carrying concrete, iron and other construction related material. However, closer inspection by the Customs department at the border revealed 1250 carton of alcoholic beverages hidden inside the container.
Meanwhile, the police have foiled an attempt to steal vehicles in Buraimi and smuggle them out of the country.
Two people have been caught on charges of theft and attempting to smuggle stolen cars out of the country.
