Muscat A fusion concert by 12 international artists will be held on February 2 at the Indian Embassy Lawns in Al Khuwair in celebration of the Republic Day of India.
The show titled - Colours of Fusion - will showcase a combination of 12 well-known Indian and Western artists.
The Mexican violinist Roberto Riggio will also demonstrate his skills on Arabic instrument Oud and harmonium while India's Pravin Godkhindi will come to Muscat to showcase his mastery over flute. The others to perform for the fusion show are American drummer Jason Mckenzie, Snehasish Mozumder of India on the mandolin, Fareed Haque from the US will be on the guitar, Subrata Bhattacharya (tabla), Kai Eckhardt (guitar), vocalist Nirmalya Roy, percussionist Somnath Roy (Ghatam, Dhambek, Ganjira and Kalimba), keyboardist Partha Paul, percussionist Mongopal Dhar on the Bangla Dhol, Dhol, Darbuka and Sanjoy Das on the guitar.
"The fusion of best music from both worlds amidst the Republic Day celebrations of India and colour will form the essence of the evening," said Anil Wadhwa, Indian ambassador to Oman.
"Moreover, it will be a double celebration since Oman is currently celebrating the 40th Anniversary of Renaissance. Oman and India have enjoyed a relationship that dates back centuries and is based on maritime trade, commonality of cultures and frequent exchanges," he added.
"The set-up and ambience will bring out the flavour of India's Republic Day celebrations, said," Ashok Suvarna, Executive Director, NPA Events.
He is optimistic that this concert too will be another milestone in the arena of concerts in the Sultanate.
