Muscat: Forty children, who evocatively captured the essence of Oman in stunning paintings of the country's magnificent achievements and development to mark the country's 40 years of Renaissance, were honoured on Tuesday.

The "Celebrate Together" national initiative launched by BankMuscat and Omantel attracted 41,000 entries from which 40 best were chosen through SMS voting. The top 40 children were given prizes by Sayyid Fatik Bin Fahar Al Said, Secretary-General at the Ministry of Heritage and Culture.

The month-long campaign offered a unique opportunity to show the modern nation through the eyes of children. The ‘Celebrate Together' campaign was primarily aimed at instilling patriotism in the younger generation.

"BankMuscat is delighted to note that the ‘Celebrate Together' initiative set in motion a unique celebration to mark the 40th Renaissance anniversary," said Shaikh Abdul Malik Bin Abdullah Al Khalili, Chairman of BankMuscat.

"Omantel is gratified to play a lead role in the landmark ‘Celebrate Together' campaign which successfully mobilised children to understand their responsibility as future citizens. The scope of this campaign has been unprecedented as it successfully united the nation as one family in adoration and appreciation of out leader Sultan Qaboos, the architect of modern Oman," said Dr Amr Bin Awad Al Rowas, Chief Executive Officer, Omantel.

"The notable outcome of the initiative is that children are convinced of their social obligations and role as future citizens. Omantel remains committed to extending a strong helping hand to society," he added.
