Muscat: The body of a 28-year-old Omani man who went missing in the sea on Friday was found in Auqad area of Salalah province, southern part of Oman, on Saturday evening.
The body was recovered by residents of the village, according to the Public Authority for Civil Defence and Ambulance (PACDA).
Personnel at PACDA and residents had combed the area for one day, with the help of a helicopter, divers and rescue boats.
Last week, the body of 10-year-old who went missing in the sea in Sharqiyah governorate also was found after three days.
Drowning cases are being reported often in Oman, as people continue to disregard warnings from authorities.
Children make up the majority of drowning victims as they are not strong enough to swim against powerful currents.
Parents often leave their children to swim alone prompting the PACDA to organise several campaigns to warn parents against negligent behaviour.
Over 10 children have drowned in Oman in the past year, according to PACDA figures.
In total, 113 drowning cases recorded in 2015, compared to 150 cases in 2014.
Meanwhile, a 26-year-old Marah Land worker of Qurum district in the capital Muscat, is battling for his life after he sustained serious injuries in a fall from a ride in the park, according to the PACDA.
