Manama: A court in Kuwait on Wednesday postponed the trial of Sara Al Drees, a blogger, to May 29. The defendant was facing charges of undermining the status of the Emir Shaikh Sabah Al Ahmad Al Sabah.
Kuwait courts have been reviewing cases of bloggers who had posted on social networks and microblogs remarks deemed offensive to the Emir.
In a separate case, 15 people will know their fate on June 12 when the court issues its verdict in their case after they were charged with taking part in an unlicensed rally.
The court also put off the trial of seven other Kuwaitis, including former lawmaker Waleed Al Tabtabai, on charges of participating in an illegal rally, resisting instructions and clashing with the police to June 12.
In Manama, at least three bloggers were each given a one-year jail sentence for posting tweets deemed abusive of the king.
