Manama: Kuwaiti coastguards have arrested five Iraqi fishermen on board two boats.
An interior ministry statement on Monday said the men are charged with violating the state's territorial waters.
The statement, cited by the official Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) said that the Kuwaitis intercepted the two vessels for fishing inside their territorial waters and that legal measures have been taken against the five Iraqis.
The ministry statement did not elaborate however and it did not mention when the incident took place.
In May, the Kuwaiti coastguards reportedly arrested 10 Iraqi fishermen for entering Kuwaiti waters, while Iranian border guards arrested nine Iraqi fishermen in Iranian waters in the strategic Shatt Al Arab waterway.
