Manama: Saudi Arabia’s ambassador to Bahrain has denied reports that his embassy had refused to assist Saudi citizens who had HIV/Aids.

“The reports disseminated by Internet sites about the Saudi embassy refusing to help Saudis are not true and lack credibility,” Abdul Mohsin Al Mark said. “These allegations are pure fiction. People who need medical help usually go to hospitals and not to embassies,” he was quoted as saying by Saudi daily Al Yawm.

Internet sites last week claimed that the Saudi nationals were reprimanded and harshly criticized by their embassy in Manama for contracting Aids and told to go home. However, the patients, according to the reports, aid that they preferred to remain in Bahrain.
