Manama: Four Bahrainis have been fined BD 50 ($132) each after they were caught skinny dipping.
The men told the police that they took their clothes off to avoid getting them wet while they took a dip in the sea.
"We have just left work and did not have swimming suits; but, we were really keen on swimming, so we took our clothes off," they reportedly said to explain their act.
However, people at Al Jazaer beach, 40 kilometres south of Manama the capital, were not bemused and called the police who arrested them.
The public prosecution charged them with engaging in immoral behaviour in public.
