Manama: Bahraini police are looking into the case of seven members of an Asian family after they were arrested for holding forged UK passports.

The relatives were held at the airport after they presented the fake passports to obtain entry visas into Bahrain, the assistant under-secretary for exits, search and follow-up at the General Directorate of Nationality, Passports and Residence said.

The employee suspected something was wrong with the passports and discovered that they were forged, the official said.

When questioned, the family said that they had Asian passports.

The case was referred to the Public Prosecution.
