Manama: Three policemen have been held in Bahrain for taking bribes from prisoners to allow them to go to a restaurant and to see their families, the interior ministry has said.
The policemen were tasked with accompanying detainees during a visit to a health centre to receive treatment based on a medical report.
However, on the way back to the detention centre, the policemen broke the law by allowing the detainees to go to their homes to see relatives and to stop at a restaurant and to eat there, the ministry said.
According to the police statement, the policemen, who received bribes, will be held for one week pending full investigation of the case.
