Manama: The head of the Civil Service Bureau has urged embassies in Bahrain to coordinate with the competent authorities before sending public sector employees on training missions or granting them overseas scholarships.
"We have received complaints from government employees about their colleagues being sent on training workshops or academic scholarships, fully funded by foreign embassies or private sector companies, and without coordination with the Civil Service Bureau," Ahmad Al Zayed said.
"We urge the embassies, ministries, private and public institutions and employees to coordinate with the relevant authorities before moving ahead with the training or the scholarship," he said.
Those who refuse to coordinate would face disciplinary action, Al Zayed said.
"We will bring together all human resources and training heads in the public sector, including those working in the foreign ministry, for a meeting to discuss the issue and review disciplinary action," he said, but without explaining why the foreign ministry was singled out.
Several Manama-based embassies dispatch Bahraini men and women to take part in training sessions organized in their home countries.
