Every winter Dubai gets into the celebratory mood during the month of Dubai Shopping Festival. Shopping discounts, decorations on streets and shopping malls, fireworks and street carnivals are some of the aspects of DSF that attracts thousands of tourists from around the globe.
Gulf News reader Abdul Kareem took these pictures on January 18 at the street carnival on Al Rigga street. He said: “From folk dancing in national costumes, live music and performances from a variety of genres to the circus acts including unicyclists, stilt-walkers, jugglers and mime artists; this was one of the best carnivals I have ever experienced. It might not be the biggest carnivals but it was one of the best ever.”
Arshad Ashraf, a security official in charge of the Al Rigga carnival told Kareem that there were performers from 15 different countries present at the carnival.
Kareem said: “The years of dedicated training that the performers go through were clearly evident in their action-packed performances full of thrilling stunts.
