Dubai: In memory of the late Lt-General Khamis Mattar Al Mazeina, Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police, the Dubai Police Headquarters’ mosque will be renamed after the long serving police officer.
Lt Gen Al Mazeina was laid to rest on Friday in Dubai’s Al Ghusais graveyard following the funeral prayers at Zabeel Mosque.
Lt. General Dhahi Khalfan Tamim, Deputy Chairman of Police and General Security, said: “Renaming the mosque after Khamis Mattar Al Mazeina is the least that we could do for one of the most loyal and patriotic sons of this nation. His life was spent serving our country, and he excelled at it.”
Known as a dedicated and tough police officer, who served in various positions in the Dubai Police force for more than 33 years, Al Mazeina came across as a kind and loving person among the family and friends.
Lt Gen Al Mazeina became the General Commander of Dubai Police in 2013, after succeeding Lt Gen Dhahi Khalfan Tamim.
He was previously the deputy commander of Dubai Police.
Earlier, Lt Gen Al Mazeina was the director of the general directorate for criminal investigations at Dubai Police, a role he took over in 2000.
