Adventurer Julie Amer is planning a major expedition to Nepal - and she will be hoping to lend some moral support to a intrepid fellow Dubai resident while she is there.
Julie, who runs expedition company Mountain High, will next month embark on a trip that will culminate in a visit to the Everest base camp.
When she arrives at the camp, she plans to meet with Dubai-based Adrian Hayes who is planning an assault on the Everest proper.
As reported in Tabloid, Hayes, a 46-year-old regional sales director for Airbus, is setting off on April 1 as part of a team aiming to reach the top of Everest.
Julie said: "We're going to pop into base camp and hopefully see Adrian and give him some moral support. We should be able to give him some photos of his family and things like that."
This will be Julie's second trip to Everest base camp. Two weeks of the 18-day trip will be spent trekking to the base camp, which is at an altitude of 5,370 metres.
Included in the itinerary are two acclimatisation days to help participants cope with the demands of being at high altitude.
However, although Julie said the trip was physically demanding, she added that age was not necessarily a barrier to those keen to take part.
Julie has six people signed up to participate in the latest trek - which is open to men and women - but she hopes numbers will swell to about 16.
Those interested in going on the visit, which runs from April 19 to May 6 and costs Dh9,800 per person, can contact Julie at jules@mountainhighme.com and (050) 6595536.
