Iceland could easily be dubbed the hipster capital of the world, and if that sounds like your happy place, Iceland Airwaves will be right up your street.

The annual five-day festival runs on the last weekend of October, and this year it’s kicking off on October 31 running until November 4, so act quickly, and some of the hottest music tickets in the world could be yours, (you can still get them from icelandair.co.uk).

We personally can’t think of a better way to round up this year’s fantastic festival season.

The line-up this year includes plenty of our current fave bands, including Icelandic indie-folk band, Of Monsters And Men, nice-guy indie rockers, The Vaccines, Brooklyn’s finest, Friends, and of course, Iceland’s most famous band, Sigur Rós. And that’s just naming four of the 222 artists slated to play over the five days.

Thanks to an intimate crowd of 6,000 – that may sound like a big number but Sandance usually has a crowd of about 10,000, and Glastonbury attracts about 140,000 revellers every year – you’ll be rubbing shoulders with musicians, artists and festival regulars as you hop from intimate venue to underground club.

This is definitely an occasion for your hottest jeans, comfiest boots, your favourite hot leather jacket and Blake Lively-style messy hair.

The first Iceland Airwaves festival was held in 1999 in a Reykjavik airplane hangar, and is now one of the hottest tickets on the circuit, with one fan dubbing it, “The hippest long weekend on the annual music-festival calendar”. Iceland Airwaves is different to your usual one-field, multiplestage festival, as it takes place in a host of venues across Reykjavík, a warm and welcoming city that seems like it was built to house trendy music fiestas.

The best thing about the five day music fest is that you won’t only be spoilt rotten with international acts, you’ll also get a fantastic feel for the city and be able to visit
geysers, waterfalls, lava fields and lagoons – there are even daytime intimate sets at the Blue Lagoon – that’s literally the coolest thing we’ve heard in months.
