There are few clubs in Dubai that don’t do the luxurious look, but the owner of the upcoming Vii Club says that his club brings something new to Dubai’s nightlife scene — and it involves turning back the clock to a classier time.

“Our catchphrase for the club is ‘class is timeless’,” says club owner Rocky Bhatia. “It is more about class and style.”

Vii Club opens to the public with a performance by reggae singer Sean Kingston on December 17 at the Conrad Hotel on Shaikh Zayed Road, from 10.30pm.

The idea behind Vii Club, which has been under construction for almost five months, came when Bhatia could not find a club to go to that suited his preferences, “Nightlife has become very, as I would like to say, hip hop/R’n’B [in] culture, where dressing up and making an effort is not important anymore,” he said.

Bhatia said there has been a gap in the nightlife scene of Dubai and Vii Club addresses it by bringing something rich and timeless to the table. Vii Club is going to give people a reason to dress up and go to a place that has “an old-world charm, and that has not been happening in Dubai that much,” he said.

The venue can fit 500 people and features wood-finished walls and vintage furniture, VIP areas and a wall made of gold coins, just in case you’d forgotten you were in a Dubai club.

It’s an extension of Vii Dubai, an outdoor garden and indoor lounge. In terms of music, the club will hold performances by international DJs and artists almost every week.

“We are going to play commercial music as it is referred to, basically it is commercial house, top 40, pop and R’n’B,” he said.

Vii Club is open two days a week on Thursdays and Fridays; the lounge and garden are open daily, however. The club will announce upcoming December and January events as soon as the club officially opens, Bhatia added.

For Bhatia, the ideal Vii Club customer would be between the 25-45 age group, who want to have fun and be surrounded by an elegant ambience and not get “pushed around in a place that is more like a concert.”

“They want to have fun but they do not want to compromise on their space and their luxury,” he added.

Speaking about the dress code of the club Bhatia said, the dress code is going to be “very tight — we are only going for smart elegant” to match the club’s atmosphere and environment.
