Californian heavy metal band Megadeth, rock band Daughtry and English indie band Razorlight have been confirmed to be this year’s main musical attractions at the Gulf Bike Week, the annual motorcycling and off-roading event in Dubai in October.

Multiple Grammy nominee Megadeth will kick off the concerts on October 18 at the Festival Park at Dubai Festival City and will be supported by local bands Absolace and Sandwash. Daughtry, fronted by American Idol finalist Chris Daughtry, and the UK’s Razorlight will hit the stage the next day, along with Dubai band Juliana Down.

“We are thrilled to be playing Dubai. With the recent ‘Th1rt3en’ album and current ‘Countdown To Extinction’ 20th anniversary tour under way we will have a fantastic selection of songs for you at our concert. Until then....keep on ‘Thrashing till Megadeth!’” said David Ellefson, bassist and co-founder of Megadeth in a statement.

Johnny Borrell, the lead singer of Razorlight added: “We’re excited about the show in Dubai. Playing live is what Razorlight do best and it’s great to be in a part of the world we’ve never visited before, and even better to be at a bike festival. It’ll be a fantastic day.”

Tickets for each performance, priced at Dh295 (general admission), Dh400 (rock zone) and Dh500 (VIP) will be available from Sunday on livenation.ae and at Virgin Megastore outlets. Day passes to the bike event, which does not cover the concerts, are available at the door for Dh50.

Gulf Bike Week 2012 will be on from October 18-20. Go to gulfbikeweek.com for more.
