What to expect: For those into both food and fashion, the Raffles Fashion Afternoon Tea is a no-brainer. A clever (and chic) alternative to traditional high tea, this straight-off-the-runway offering is a perfect way to catch up with the girls.
Sampling the S/S 2012 collection last month, we were treated to plate upon plate of couture cakes and designer sandwiches that looked almost too good to eat. Almost...
Each work of art is inspired by the shapes, cuts, patterns and colours of the season's must-have fashion pieces and accessories - think an Emmental and plum polka-dot skirt-shaped open sandwich; a passion-fruit-shortbread sun hat splashed with strawberries; and the stand out winner, a bright-green studded stiletto, made from white chocolate, iced and encrusted with strawberry chips.
There's also a macadamia-nut bucket bag, a raspberry-and-cream hat box and a spinach-muffin jewellery box. As well as the six savoury and nine sweet dishes, you get traditional scones with jam and Cornish clotted cream (the latter comes in a fab squeezy toothpaste-type tube), cup upon cup of your choice of tea, while you relax to the mellow tunes from the live pianist.
