After a long day’s fast all you can think about is filling your stomach to its capacity in order to ensure your stomach doesn’t moan and groan embarrassingly the following day.

So, what better way to do so than a six-kitchen buffet offering delicacies from all over the world.

The aptly-named Kitchen 6 at the world’s tallest hotel (don’t worry, the restaurant is only on the first floor so you won’t feel queasy afterwards) features six live cooking stations with speciality chefs at hand to help you choose your meal.

The dining set-up is different from your typical buffet where the food is on one side and seating on another. At Kitchen 6, you’re in among the cooking stations while also far enough to enjoy intimacy with friends and family.

The first station is the Arabic kitchen, which has all the staples of Arabic cuisine including lamb ouzi, kofta, mixed grills for the main dishes and if you’re after something lighter to get you started then the Shorbat Adas (traditional lentil soup) is the way to go.

Had enough of shawarmas and kebabs? Then move on to the Asian woks a few metres away where a variety of oriental dishes like the stir fried beef with oyster sauce goes down well with the satisfying organic fruit cocktails on offer. If, like me, you like your sushi then scamper over to the seafood counter which has a delightful selection of raw fish wraps with wasabi to wake those tired taste buds up.

I was plucking up the courage to tackle the Indian station as I’m not so good with spices but after challenging myself to try something from each kitchen, I wasn’t going to let it slip here.

The paneer butter masala after the token onion bhajis went down a treat and to my surprise, my mouth wasn’t on fire.

Stomach full, I dragged myself over to the Western kitchen which houses European roasts, Yorkshire puddings and the like for a plateful of the chef-recommended tomato butter rice, which I’m sure would’ve tasted better if I hadn’t already had half the menu. So I took a break before everyone’s favourite course — dessert!

There’s always room for dessert and this is especially the case at Kitchen 6 as its dessert buffet is full of miniature cakes and sweets, which enable you to get your sugar fix even when you’re stuffed.

For an especially filling iftar for all the family, you’ll do well to leave Kitchen 6 hungry.
