It is the first page of a book that usually goes on to define whether the read will be good, great or simply not worth it.

The same is the case with food.

Most often than not if the appetisers taste right one can rest assured that what’s to follow will be worth talking home too.

Full marks to Peppermill for kick-starting my iftar experience with succulent kebabs, bite-sized potato samosas and rosemilk with just the right touch of sweetness.

These starters paved the way for an evening filled with more palatable delights.

I recommend the perfectly-spiced bhara kabab (an Indianised version of the humble lamb chop) teamed with the roganjosh gravy and a few triangles of spicy cheese naan. As far as combinations go, this one’s a keeper. If after a while, you begin to feel the spice at the back of your throat, wash it down with the strawberry colada — an absolutely refreshing version of its pineapple cousin.

And while we are on the chapter of indulgence, why not treat yourself to some lychee panna cotta? Just like its look, its fair and square on the taste front too.

If I had to rate this iftar experience as a book, it would be a sure shot bestseller.
