Abu Dhabi: The big Friday brunch at Ingredients in Eastern Mangroves Hotel and Spa by Anantara is a weekend rendezvous with good food and great ambience you would not want to miss.

The restaurant has a spacious, airy feeling to it with plenty of seating options. There are large party tables in the middle of the dining space, bar stools and regular seatings.

The food counters are well spread out. There is plenty of space to amble about the restaurant and explore your favourite dishes. The spread is predominantly Asian, but also offers continental varieties.

The sushi bar is an interesting corner you would like to linger on. And if you want to learn a thing or two about rolling a sushi, a chef is at hand to show you how to do it. Though the selection is not very inspiring, we enjoyed the mini platters from the counter.

If you are into healthy eating, the brunch has an impressive line-up of salads and starters. From Arabic to Asian and continental, you’ll be spoilt for choice.

However, I resisted the temptation of stuffing my face with salads as the Asian corner was already on our radar.

The counter will delight fans of Thai food. But unfortunately, the jasmine rice, Thai green curry and Pad Ki Mao – the quintessential Thai dishes – did not leave any lasting impression on my palate. The place also has a carving station, but it had just two varieties by the time I made it to the counter.

For the sweet tooth, there are plenty of options to explore. The dessert station is more like a sweet shop where tarts, pastries, puddings, cakes, macaroons and muffins of are lined up inside glass counters. There is also a fruit corner where you can treat yourself to some healthy varieties. Interestingly, the counter also serves shakes.
