Abu Dhabi: When the temperature drops, hopefully in a couple of weeks, Finz will be an ideal place for an alfresco dinner.

This wooden structure, built on a pontoon-like base and jutting from the tip of a jetty off the Beach Rotana Hotel, makes a picture-perfect setting for a seafood restaurant.

And if you prefer to sit indoors, the cool tranquil setting will nudge you to stay longer. You don’t miss out on the views thanks to a spectacular, large glass window that supports the triangular wooden ceiling.

The contemporary and classic mesh of the interior is complete with an open kitchen and a spattering of antique fish baskets on the roof.

The deck outside offers some pleasant views while you dig into a selection of dishes such as Sako Tuna (Tuna tartar, sesame seeds, grilled watermelon, avocado relish, ponzu sauce and bell pepper mix) or seafood biryani served with cashew nuts, cilantro and cucumber raita.

Tuna ceviche with croutons and Scottish smoked salmon with chive and crème fraiche, dill pommery mustard and citrus juice made great starters.

The wok-fried lobster dunked in sweet and spicy sauce is any seafood lover’s dream dish. The platter is as appealing to the eyes as to the palate with lobster shells for garnish and the meat culled out.

Veggie options

Though the menu predominantly features seafood, including Asian wok, tandoori and classic dishes, there are a some good options for meat lovers and vegetarians too.

However, a meal here will not be complete without a serving of chocolate almond pudding and cheesecake ice cream.
