Second choice

Second choice is not an inferior choice, says actress Dawn Zulueta, who replaced Maricel Soriano in the series Bukas Na Lang Kita Mamahalin (I Can Only Love You Tomorrow), after the latter got into a raging fit against the star, Gerald Anderson. Zulueta has high regard for Soriano as an actress, and does not want to comment on the issue that led to the axing of Soriano from the series. Zulueta says she will try her best live up to the expectations of the role, noting she has very big shoes to fill.

Anne Curtis wins on Twitter

Four million. That’s how many Twitter followers actress Anne Curtis has. She breached the milestone last week and as of latest count, she has 600 new followers on @anncurtissmith on the microblogging social networking site. This means Curtis is the most followed Filipino celebrity on Twitter. Posting about her milestone, Curtis tweeted, “Thank you Thank you to YOU my crazy followers that get my craziness!!!! Cheers to another year in the twitter world!!! Happy 4 Million! Big Hugs & Kisses, Anne.x” At about the same time last year, Curtis filled the Araneta Coliseum to the rafters, a feat for the self-confessed “non-singer”.

Rave reviews

Max Collins surprised everyone when she was picked to co-star with Dingdong Dantes and Lorna Tolentino in TV series Pahiram Ng Sandali. Many thought she wasn’t capable or was not ready yet to be throwing lines against more seasoned actors. But Collins’ proved many wrong when she showed she has the talent to match the intensity of Dantes and Tolentino, both award-winning TV and film celebrities. Collins earned her ward-winning director’s nod, Maryo J delos Reyes. Collins is thankful to be given the opportunity, in her words, “to be an actress, not just a celebrity”.

Jumping fence

Speaking of Dingdong Dantes, the two-time best actor winner in the Metro Manila Film Festival is said to be thinking of moving to another network once his contract with GMA expires. The actor has been coy about his transfer moves — a few weeks before, he spoke to the media about his openness to explore other opportunities; but a couple of days back, he reaffirmed his satisfaction with the way his home network is handling his career. But according to some reliable sources, Dantes is willing to negotiate with other networks before talking to his current home studio about his contract.
