Muscat: The Omani Women's Fashion Trends (OWFT) 2010 will be showcased on Saturday at the Al Bustan Palace Hotel's Majan Ballroom as part of the 40th National Day celebration in Oman.

"Omani women's fashion trends over the last four decades and how women have evolved over the last 40 years will be shown," said Shruti Chowdhary, director at the Light and Shadow Enterprises LLC, organisers of the show.

"Four Omani fashion designers have been selected, who, we felt, best portrayed these changing trends," she said.

Shruti further said the choice of these designers was based primarily on how fashion trends have changed in the country over the last 40 years.

The show will comprise two categories. Two designers will display traditional designs, while two others will showcase modern creations.

Amal Al Raisi, one of Oman's most renowned fashion designers, will open the show with her creations. Amal Al Jamali and Khadija Al Shebani, of Daziaa Fashions, will display modern designs at the show, while Anisa Al Zadjali will display traditional fare.

Ganiya Al Farsi, who is a former model, will choreograph the show.

Each designer has created 10 designs for the show. Of these, their final creations will be themed around the 40th National Day. After the show, the themed garments will be auctioned and all proceeds from this auction will be donated to a charitable cause, supporting women in the country.
