Insurgent (Divergent Trilogy)

Time for one of the most anticipated sequels of 2015. The follow-up to the 2014 film Divergent, Insurgent, is here! Shailene Woodley is back as Tris, but this time new director Robert Schwentke takes over from Neil Burger. The film takes place three days after we left the characters in the last movie... if you remember we’re in post-apocalyptic Chicago and Tris is once again looking for answers.

The big names are all back in this: Kate Winslet, Miles Teller and Ansel Elgort. So if you enjoyed the first one, then you won’t be disappointed. However, if you don’t enjoy young, good looking people running around being all futuristic, maybe give it a miss.

The Second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel

Another sequel this week is a little similar to Insurgent, although it’s not young people running around saving the world — it’s pensioners running around trying to save a hotel. The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel, which released in 2011, was funny, witty, original and new. The Second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel does not quite hit those same marks, but it’s definitely worth a visit.

The Lazurus Effect

A group of medical students discover a way to bring dead patients back to life, which in theory sounds great, but in reality... not so much. It stars Olivia Wilde (Tron, House M.D.) and is brought to you by the guys who scared the living daylights out of you with The Purge, Insidious and Sinister

The Gunman

This action/drama (from the director of Taken) will do for Spain and mercenaries what Taken did for Paris and Albanian gangsters. Sean Penn is a former Special Forces soldier/military contractor that wants out of the game. He’s forced to go on the run because the organisation has other plans. Javier Bardem, Idris Elba, and Ray Winstone round out this star-studded cast.
