The audience were in for a surprise when the lights dimmed and the spotlight revealed Remo Fernandes on stage during the audio launch ceremony of upcoming film, ‘David,’ held in Chennai on January 3.

The Goan musician was in his best element as he crooned ‘Maria Pita Che,’ a number from the film.

“This is an old folk song from Daman (a Union territory of India) and is slow,’ said Fernandes, “but for this film, I have turned it into a fast track along with Tamil lyrics interspersed in the song.”

Tamil actor Vikram who is playing the lead in ‘David,’ has sung this number for the film.

Director Bejoy Nambiar has deviated from the usual by collaborating with six music composers instead of one as is the norm. Apart from Remo, the other composers include Prashanth Pillai, Anirudh Ravichander (of ‘Why this Kolaveridi fame), Bramfatura, Maatibaani and Modern Mafia, an independent rock band. While the Tamil version of ‘David,’ has nine tracks, the Hindi version has fifteen tracks.

Nambiar said, “This is a first of its kind attempt. Each track is of a different genre. I believe the album will be well embraced.”

“David,’ a bilingual is made in Hindi and Tamil featuring Vikram, Jiiva and Neil Nitin Mukesh. Isha Sharvani who is paired opposite Vikram plays a speech challenged woman in this gangster tale.
