PITCH PERFECT 2

The Barden Belles are back! And this time it’s going global. Not content with winning on their own home turf, they head to Europe to compete in an a cappella Eurovision-style competition. It’s going to be tough for the girls as no American team has ever won.

The original cast are all back (Rebel Wilson is hilarious once again. Watch out for the Wrecking Ball moment) with more songs, more laughs and just more wit and entertainment. This is a sequel that most definitely matches if not beats the original.

MAD MAX: FURY ROAD

The original movie was out 35 years ago so it was about time for a reboot and this one doesn’t disappoint. Nicholas Hoult is so far removed from his 2002 character Marcus in About A Boy, it’s kind of scary. Cool scary. As are most of the characters in this movie.

This is the first time we’ve not seen Mel Gibson as Max Rockatansky. Tom Hardy had some tough shoes to fill, but fill them he has done, massively. We jump forward in time to 2060 AD and head to Australia. The world is in crisis... will Mad Max and his buddy Furiosa (the awesome Charlize Theron) sort it out? He’s mad, so anything can happen.

FAR FROM THE MADDING CROWD

If classical dramas are more your thing then don’t worry, you’re in luck. Based on the Thomas Hardy novel comes this classic starring Carey Mulligan. Bathbesha has to choose her man: the sheep farmer, the sergeant or the mature one. Which one will she nab? Will true love rule? Sit back, head back to Victorian England and enjoy.

Still showing: HOT PURSUIT

Good girls gone bad is pretty much what sums this movie up and it’s nice to see Reese Witherspoon out of her comfort zone. She plays Cooper, a policewoman who wouldn’t say boo to a goose and definitely won’t break any rules, until she has to look after Daniella, a widow who’s very much a wanted woman. Daniella (played by Sofia Vergara) is somewhat feisty and doesn’t like it when she doesn’t get her own way.

This film is still running high in the UAE box offices and we can see why: two awesome women kicking some behinds. We loved it!
