SPY

You want a barrel-load of stars making you laugh this weekend? Seriously, this film is loaded with them. Jude Law (with a slightly cringey American accent), Jason Statham and Melissa McCarthy lead this with so many cameos it’s hard to concentrate on the film without saying “oh that’s him!” and “there she is!”

From the guys that brought us Bridesmaids and The Heat comes this hilarious movie where the most unlikely spy sets out to stop a nuclear weapon being sold to terrorists.

McCarthy shines in this, as does British comedian Miranda Hart, making her big-screen debut.

SURVIVOR

Pierce Brosnan is back to his Bond best in this thriller about a terrorist bombing and him framing someone else for it. That someone else is Milla Jovovich, who’s outstanding back in a lead role. She takes on the whole of London and anyone who dares stand in her way as she tries to prevent an attack on New York.

Lots more famous faces appear in this too — Dylan McDermott, Emma Thompson and Robert Forster all co-star in this London-based film that’s sure to fill some seats this weekend.

ENTOURAGE

Fans of the TV show are besides themselves about this weekend’s big release as the movie finally hits the big screen. The film picks up where the TV show left off and yes, the boys are all back bigger stronger and a little bit sexier than before.

So we continue following the life of movie star Vincent Chase (Adrian Grenier) — this time he’s taking on the role of director and with a $100 million (Dh367 million) budget, what could go wrong? He’ll go over budget of course. So it’s down to his buddies to help him get the money from a billionaire. If not, back to Queens.

There are so many famous faces in this and most of these in the form of cameos from celebrities ranging from Calvin Harris to Thierry Henry. It’s hot, it’s happening and it’s great to see the boys back and on the big screen.

WOMAN IN GOLD

Ryan Reynolds and Helen Mirren make a very unlikely but adorable duo in this film based on the true story of the late Maria Altmann. She, a refugee living in Los Angeles after being kicked out of Vienna when she was a child, is after what is rightfully hers. The painting of the woman in gold, nicknamed The Mona Lisa of Austria.

She teams up with a young lawyer named Randy (Reynolds) to fight the Austrian government to get back the painting of her aunt, on a journey that takes place over ten long years. Will she get her aunt back, will justice be served? Better watch it and see.

INSIDIOUS: CHAPTER 3

If you’re a fan of the Insidious films then you will have been waiting for this weekend as the third instalment is finally out.

This one is actually a prequel, set before any of the hauntings that we know and love. In this film, we find out how psychic Elise (Lin Shayne) uses her ability to contact the dead to help Quinn (Stefanie Scott) who’s been targeted by spirits. She thinks it’s her dead mother but, of course, nothing would be simple in a horror movie. Expect more jumps, screams and general shocks as this latest horror flick will have you covering your face with the popcorn box.
