In The Dog House

One for the kids this week is this late release from Dream Factory. When you give a dog something to do, you know that no task is too big, especially when it comes to love. When a divorced mum starts dating again, her kids (and their dog) aren’t happy about it. So they start sabotaging the dates.

Will mum find out it was the kids? Will she blame the dog? And more importantly, who’ll end up in the dog house?

Manglehorn

Al Pacino is back with one of his strongest performances in years with Manglehorn. He plays the lead role as AJ Manglehorn, who’s desperately lost in love. Left heartbroken and moping around, he needs to snap out of it.

His son Jacob (Chris Messing) can’t convince him to get out of his rut but can new friend Dawn (Holly Hunter) help? We think she can.

Pacino really shines in this, which is almost a one-man-show. So if you’re a fan of the ‘say hello to my little friend’ legend, then this movie will suit you to a tee this opening Ramadan weekend.

Take That: Live

Finally! Take That come to the UAE. Well, kind of. Are you a fan of the band but can’t afford the airfare to see them in London? Well, have no fear as their show will be broadcast in real time from the O2 in London to VOX Cinemas this Friday night.

Gary Barlow, Howard Donald and Mark Owen are a threesome on a mission to give their dedicated fans an awesome night. So come out this weekend and have a unique cinema experience watching Take That at your local VOX cinema.

The Homesman

Making its way to the majority of screens this weekend is Tommy Lee Jones’ latest project. It’s his project in that he wrote it, directed it and stars in it. Based on the book of the same name, Jones adapted this into a successful film that’s finally made its was to the UAE.

Selected to compete for the Palme d’Or in the main competition of the 2014 Cannes Film Festival, it’s about three women who are on the verge of going a little crazy and decide to change their lives by going on a trip. Leader of the trio is Mary Bee Cuddy (played by the amazing Hilary Swank). Can they make it to their final destination in one piece? And how much will this journey change them?

This is a great Western providing some outstanding performances, and real strong contender for movie of the week. Definitely check out The Homesman.
