Fluffy werewolves, musical bears, forest elves and a long lost princess are all coming to the Dubai International Film Festival (Diff) this year. The Cinema for Children segment at the annual festival will feature the best selection of family movies from around the world, organisers said on Wednesday.

From Norway adventure film Journey to the Christmas Star to the kite-flying street kid story Gattu from India, young audiences are in for a cinematic treat said Myrna Maakaron, the festival’s Cinema for Children programmer. There’s also the film debut of beloved children’s book Ernest and Celestine by Belgian author Gabrielle Vincent and Alfie, the Little Werewolf, from the Netherlands, about a boy who realises he is no longer just a regular kid.

“[The] segment is designed to bring a raft of films that entertain our younger audiences enabling them to broaden their perspective and encourage them to reflect on the world around them,” said Maakaron in a release.

Diff 2012 runs from December 9-16.
