Voices Abbie Cornish, Helen Mirren, Hugo Weaving, Jim Sturgess
Director Zack Snyder
Genre Animation/Fantasy
Rating G

It pays to persevere is the moral of the inspiring stories Soren (Sturgess) has heard about the Guardians of Ga'Hoole, brave warriors who saved owlkind from the Pure Ones. The bravest of all was Lyze of Kiel who struck down the leader of the enemies at The Battle of the Ice Claws.

There are rumours that the evil king is still alive, but nobody is sure. One day, Soren and his brother Kludd (Ryan Kwanten) are kidnapped by the Pure Ones who have also lured many other owls and enslaved them. Somehow Soren manages to escape and meets other adventurous owls who join him in the search for the Great Tree of Ga'Hoole and Lyze.

Based on the novels by Kathryn Lasky, this movie is a visual treat. Special features include True Guardians of the Earth, a fascinating look into the world of owls.

Charlie St. cloud

Director Burr Steers
Genre Fantasy/Romance
Rating 12

Charlie (Efron) and his brother Sam (Tahan) win the coveted Commodore's Cup which also entitles Charlie to a sailing scholarship at Stanford. But when Sam dies in a car crash, Charlie gives up his dreams and becomes the caretaker of the cemetery where his brother is buried.

It turns out that his brother is stuck in limbo - only Charlie can see and talk to him. Five years later, Charlie has an encounter with Tess, a sailor who is hovering in an ‘in-between' world, and has to find her before she dies. Remember Just Like Heaven? It's that kind of story. Unbelievable, but touching once you are pulled in.
