Dubai International Film Festival (Diff) will hold a red-carpet gala for Swallows and Amazons on December 9 at Madinat Arena. The family film is one of three in the Cinema for Children programme at the 13th edition of Diff, taking place between December 7-14.

Swallows and Amazons is based on the book by Arthur Ransome, wherein four children are given permission to camp by themselves on an island in the midst of a large lake, but soon discover they aren’t alone.

Swallows and Amazons is a beautiful adaptation of a much loved classic set in 1935 in the unbelievably beautiful countryside of the Lake District, England. It’s a charming afternoon outing for the whole family with stellar performances, action and adventure, a true breath of fresh air and a fantastic dose of good old fashioned family fun,” said Myrna Maakaron, Diff’s Cinema for Children programmer.

Film screenwriter Andrea Gibb and producer Nick Barton will speak about the creative process behind the adaptation at Emirates Airline Festival of Literature as part of Great Adaptations: From Novel to Screen. This will take place at 6pm on December 10 at VOX cinemas, Mall of the Emirates, in partnership with Diff.

Diff film ticket packages — and registration for professionals — are also available (10 for Dh275, 25 for Dh550, and a red-carpet package with seven gala tickets for Dh500) at diff.ae.
