The Young Animators Award will return for a second year at Dubai International Film Festival.

The award was launched by DIFF and Taaleem last year; creative educational institute SAE Dubai has come on-board this year.

Participants between 13-18 years of age will attend a stop-motion workshop between December 1-3, learning about storyboarding, scripting, filming techniques, sound design and editing. They will create videos that will be reviewed by a committee. A winner will be chosen and will premiere their clip at DIFF, which, in its 13th edition, will run between December 7-14 at Madinat Jumeirah.

Those interested must submit a 250-word summary discussing their interest in animation and cinema and how the creative arts contribute to their happiness through diff.ae/yaa. The deadline is November 22.

“This is a fantastic opportunity for the aspiring young animators of tomorrow to create unique animation films, and be exposed to every aspect of its creation,” said Shivani Pandya, managing director of DIFF.

SAE will provide the venue and post-production support. Keiran Bartlett, the campus manager, said they are ‘thrilled’ to support the competition.

DIFF film ticket packages — and registration for professionals — are also available (10 for Dh275, 25 for Dh550, and a red carpet package with seven gala tickets for Dh500) at diff.ae.
