The films are made, and now it’s time for film fans to vote.

The Dubai 48-hour Film Project, which took place from November 12-14, saw 45 teams compete to make a film in 48 hours with genres, props and dialogue assigned at random. Of those, six were late, and 33 were on-time submissions, for a total of 39 completed films. Those films will now screen November 24-26 at AM Studio in Al Quoz at 8pm (Dh30, on a first come, first serve basis. (The six late films are disqualified from competing, but will still be screened.)

The audience will vote for their top three favourite films for an “audience choice” prize on each night.

A panel of experts will chose the top ten films, which will screen as part of Dubai International Film Festival on December 12 at 6pm at the outdoor screen at The Beach in Dubai. Awards, including a $5,000 cash prize, will be given; the best film will compete in Atlanta Filmpalooza festival against 130 other winning cites and have a chance to screen at The Cannes short film corner in 2015.

“The 48 hour film project is an innovative way to encourage young passionate filmmakers as it pushes their creative limits and provides them with a unique experience of using Dubai as their backdrop,” said Jamal Al Sharif, chairman of Dubai Film and TV Commission, in a statement. “We are happy to support this unique project, and wish the best of luck to all the participants.”
