Do you love your Netflix account as much as you do your better half? Do you find yourself waxing lyrical about the politics of Westeros? Do you obsessively re-watch seasons of your favourite series? What you need is a good TV podcast, where hours and hours of uninhibited analyses and general nerd talk await thy dorky self. Here are my favourite picks, beginning with the best Game of Thrones podcast you’ll ever listen to.

Game of Thrones: The Podcast

It’s been a week since Dragonstone dropped, but some of us are still unpacking what the first episode of the penultimate season of Game of Thrones had to offer us. And there’s no better way to do it than with the boys over at baldmove.com, Jim and A.Ron. The duo first released an “instant take” episode for the Thronies who just couldn’t wait, followed by a more detailed analysis of the episode the next day. We love the dedication, and the episodes are extremely breezy and ideal for both hardcore fans (of the books and the show) as well as casual viewers.

Buffering the Vampire Slayer

I can’t stress how happy it makes me when I discover a new podcast hosted by women, especially when it’s pop culture-themed. Buffering the Vampire Slayer (take points for coming up with the best podcast name ever) is a weekly podcast in which hosts Jenny Owen Youngs (professional musician and recreational Whedonverse aficionado) and Kristin Russo (professional writer and former goth teen) discuss Buffy the Vampire Slayer, one episode at a time. They’ve just wrapped up season two, so newbies can easily catch up.

The Greatest Generation

Their tagline reads, ‘A Star Trek podcast by two guys who are a bit embarrassed to have a Star Trek podcast’. I’m also a bit embarrassed to admit that I’ve only recently converted into a Trekkie, not least because of Patrick Stewart’s unmatched portrayal of the brilliant Captain Picard. Fans of Star Trek: Next Generation have no excuse to not tune into this comedy podcast hosted by Benjamin Ahr Harrison and Adam Pranica, who lovingly take apart and put back together one of the greatest science fiction shows to ever have been made. New episodes are out on Mondays and Wednesdays.

Gilmore Guys

There’s no doubt Gilmore Girls was a popular show. It still is, given the hype that followed the show’s reunion season that was launched this year on Netflix. But if we had to pick the show’s greatest fans ever, it would have to be the Gilmore Guys. Veteran fan Kevin T. Porter and new-to-the-show Demi Adejuyigbe dive oh-so-deep into the Gilmore Girls universe, episode by episode with special guests to analyse all things Stars Hollow.

Kumail Nanjiani’s The X-Files Files

The truth is out there guys, and Kumail Nanjiani (The Big Sick, Silicon Valley) won’t rest until he’s found it. Or at least, he gave it a shot. This now-defunct podcast is still a rabbit hole of great X-Files trivia and interviews that you can totally sink your teeth into on a rainy day. Especially, the episodes where show stars David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson appear as guests on the show.
