GAMES, an annual gaming convention that was to take place in September at Dubai World Trade Centre, has been postponed to 2017. New dates will be announced at the beginning of next year.

Current ticketholders will be contacted by Virgin Tickets for refunds and further instructions.

Organisers and strategic partners say they postponed the event to better correspond with new game releases and availability of new content.

Ani:me Expo, another convention organised by Alliance, the company behind GAMES and Middle East Film and Comic Con (MEFCC), will be taking place on October 27-29 at du Forum, Yas Island. It will focus on Japanese pop culture.

On the same dates in Dubai, PopCon, a convention organised by 117Live, will take place at a specially-built venue near Dubai Outlet Mall, adjacent to Autism Rocks Arena. The event promises Marvel and MMA celebrity guests.

Tickets for both Ani:Me and PopCon have not yet gone on sale.
