An enchanting Arabian evening awaits at Kempinski Palm Jumeirah

Service is often overlooked at this time of year. Not at the Kempinski Hotel & Residences, Palm Jumeirah’s Ramadan tent.

The staff here are always around yet not intrusive, so it’s perfect for catching up with friends and family. With cards, games, shisha and an oud player on hand, there’s also no reason to rush off after your meal. And the food supports the warm welcome you receive here.

The buffet features the ubiquitous Arabic mezze alongside an impressive bread basket. Among the salads, the shanklish is a clear winner. The white cheese is crumbled finely and contains a generous smattering of parsley, making for tangy and herby bites that are fresh and ground the starters.

There are some unusual dishes included in the mains. Yes, there are traditional options, but there are also options that reflect the hotel’s European heritage. Beware the mashed potatoes, and keep their buttery goodness from your cardiologist. And the stroganoff is as wholesome as wholesome gets.

For dessert, yes the fruit is fresh and refreshing, and the balls are sugary yet not too sweet, but it is the smooth panna cotta you don’t want to miss. Don’t be alarmed if it’s not on the table, for it is popular. But the staff are more than efficient, so rest assured – it’ll be refilled soon.
