A Japanese hot dog? Head here

London-based fine dining Japanese restaurant Ramusake has opened at the Hilton DoubleTree, Jumeirah Beach Residence. Like other notable Japanese outlets, it’s got an Izakaya-style menu (that refers to a Japanese pub, where small bites of food are as important as the drinks and socialising). The food is a blend of traditional Japanese flavours and western presentation, so expect the likes of tuna sashimi pizza, fried truffle-cheese dumplings with truffle ponzu, and fried chicken sliders with kimchi mayonnaise and pickles. The licensed spot has a bar and lounge in addition to the dining room and sea-facing terrace.

A Canadian karaoke bar in JBR

Now this sounds like a good night out: A new bar and restaurant in Dubai Marina with a karaoke room, games, Canadian food and — because Dubai — burgers. Ten Street, opening at Oasis Beach Tower, plays on its name, with 10-ball American pool tables; ten of each kind of beverage; and a menu that changes every ten weeks. There are only five burgers, however. Stay tuned for opening details.

Din Tai Fung in Al Ghurair

Those living on the other side of the Creek need not miss out on the dumpling obsession that’s taken over at Mall of the Emirates. Din Tai Fung, the Taiwanese restaurant famous for its soup dumplings (and epic queues) is opening at Al Ghurair Centre by October. It’s part of the Dining District, which will house 29 restaurants and cafes, including fine dining and casual eats. Din Tai Fung will be serving up its xiao long bao, steamed dumplings that deliver a piping-hot burst of rich broth, alongside the already-open Japanese Yakitate bakery and Iraqi Bestoon Samad.
