Pooch-friendly BBQ at Senara

Senara at Palm Views, West Marina Palm Jumeirah, is bringing the Harbourside BBQ on Friday and Saturday, and it’s pooch-friendly.

Starting at noon, you can choose from three items from an all-new menu for Dh99, which includes homemade burgers and sausages, roasted veggie skewers, baked potatoes, salads and barbecued meats. For dessert there is chocolate banana and grilled pineapple.

Better still, you can bring your pets and unwind on the terrace.

Senara is open from noon to midnight every day and noon to 1am on Friday. Call 04-4516460.

Emirati cookbook launched

Chef Uwe Micheel, the president of the Emirates Culinary Guild and director of kitchens at Radisson Blu Hotel, Dubai Deira Creek, has launched Flavours of Dubai, his first Emirati cookbook to help expatriates adopt the country’s culinary heritage. “When I first arrived in Dubai, guests wanting to try the local cuisine were usually referred to Lebanese or Iranian restaurants. This was unacceptable to me and I began learning traditional recipes from Emirati mothers and experienced chefs cooking for palaces. This book is the sum of all the authentic recipes I have learnt from them over two decades, and getting these were not easy,” said Micheel, a Dubai resident for almost 25 years, who opened Aseelah, an authentic Emirati fine-dining restaurant earlier this year. The book is priced at Dh150 and available on souq.com and at select bookstores.

Beachside shopping

The onset of winter has brought with it the onslaught of flea markets. And so in the spirit of the season, the Market has once again arrived at The Beach and will be a mainstay until the end of April. It has two kinds of stalls: ‘Eat Later’ and ‘Bits and Pieces’. So, there’s pre-packaged food to take on-the-go, as well as trinkets and baubles, bespoke fashion, beach accessories and kitschy household items, among other things to choose from. Open from 10am to midnight everyday, find the Market at the seafront on the Beach, opposite JBR.

Local flavours

Emirati restaurant Local Bites Cafe, situated on Emirates Beach Road, has reopened this week after being shut for renovation earlier this year. With revamped interiors for a more local feel and a brand new menu, Local Bites serves everything from breakfast options (Traditional Eggs Benedict, Baith at Tamait made from fresh scrambled eggs with tomatoes and parsley, Emirati cardamom and saffron flavoured pancake in date syrup) to all-day eats (Falafel Khameer Sandwich, Jumeirah Khameer Sandwich stuffed with marinated chicken, Achar Pasta). An addition to the menu are their range of signature parathas (flatbread). Options include Jumeirah Paratha Shawratha, Pizzatha and Nutella Paratha. The cafe is open from 8am-12.30am daily and is very close to Kite Beach. For details, call: 04-3883659
