The 10-course menu served to first-class passengers aboard the Titanic on April 14, 1912 — just hours before the ship sank — will be brought to life by a restaurant in Abu Dhabi this April 14.

The dining room at Bord Eau, at the Shangri-La Qaryat Al Beri, will recreate the Titanic’s first-class cabin, while executive chef Mansour Memarian will serve up the menu that was served to the ship’s top customers for Dh406 (plus tax). Relatively speaking, that’s a snip: Passage on the ship in first class in today’s prices would come to over Dh367,000.

“This year, Bord Eau is set to steer patrons towards an exclusive experience. The last dinner on the Titanic epitomises the finest gastronomic journey worth telling, where guests’ experiences are not limited by their imagination,” said Thomas Guss, the hotel’s general manager. “The savoir faire, sumptuous food and lively entertainment — coupled with a touch of history — are elegantly intertwined to give an unparalleled dining experience.”

Guests, who will be entertained with live jazz performances, are encouraged to dress up. (Priceless sapphire necklace not required.)

The menu for the first-class dinner survived the sinking, unlike 1,500 of the Titanic’s passengers, and has been a source of fascination for chefs around the world attempting to recreate the sumptuous offering.

The Bord Eau menu stays true to the incredibly rich menu: Oysters; consomme Olga; poached salmon, mousseline sauce and cucumbers; filet mignon Lili, chicken Lyonnaise and vegetables stuffed with marrow; lamb with mint sauce, green pea puree and Parmentier potatoes; punch Romaine cocktail; roast squab with watercress; cold asparagus with saffron vinaigrette; pate de foie gras with celery; and to wrap up, Waldorf pudding, chocolate eclair and orange en surprise.
