Our favourite Kiwi chef is back in town.
TV star, restaurateur and writer Peter Gordon is coming to the UAE in September to lead cooking demos, masterclasses and to host two dinners at Jones The Grocer in both Dubai and Abu Dhabi.
Gordon, who has two restaurants in New Zealand — Bellota and The Sugar Club in Auckland — and two in London, The Providores/Tapa Room and Kopapaand, is known for his fusion style. He’s also a cookbook author and his latest, Savour, which focuses on salads, will be on sale at stores soon.
“Peter Gordon’s unique cooking style and approach to international cuisine has made him one of the most diverse chefs in the market. These events are a great opportunity for the UAE to experience world-class taste and talent on their doorstep” said Alex Ferriss, group executive chef at Jones the Grocer, in a statement. “We are excited to host these events together and look forward to working with him in our kitchens.”
If you can’t make it to any of the events, Gordon has created a menu that will be served from September 5 to October 2.
Here’s the line-up of events.
Four-course meal on September 21 at Jones the Grocer Al Manara, Dubai, and September 23 at Jones the Grocer Khalidiya, Abu Dhabi. It’s Dh380, and on the menu are new dishes from Savour: Crusty baked wasabi mushrooms, spinach, tomato, orange, dill and grated egg; baked ricotta and carrots, figs and smoky almond brittle; seared salmon, nori sauce, crispy buckwheat, gomasio and avocado; cardamom lamb ribs, mango-cashew rice and red onions; it finishes off with pomegranate panna cotta with pear and basil jelly.
Cooking demonstrations on September 22 at Jones the Grocer Raha, Abu Dhabi, for Dh195, preparing three dishes with tasters.
Hands-on masterclass on September 22 at Jones the Grocer Khalidiya, Abu Dhabi, which includes a signed copy of Savour; Dh695.
