We smell a food trend starting. And it smells like jerk chicken.

Following the opening last month of Ting Irie, we’ve got another Jamaican restaurant opening in Dubai: Miss Lily’s, opening on the fifth floor of the Sheraton Grand Hotel this month.

This Caribbean outlet originates from New York City, where it has two locations. The PR spiel describes it as beach shack-meets-Jamaican diner, which is unusual seeing as it’s nowhere near the sea; also expect old-school ska and reggae music on the custom-built Jamaican speaker stack wall.

There’s a small dining room, seating 40, bar and lounge areas, where you can eat from the full menu or a small bites bill of fare, and a private chef’s table dining room seating up to 16 people. The food is by Miss Lily’s executive chef, New Yorker, Adam Schop, and includes — naturally — jerk-ified dishes including chicken and corn grilled with toasted coconut and jerk mayo. There’s also pimento short ribs; hot pepper shrimp. For all you lovers of exclusives, the king crab with aromatic scotch bonnet sauce; the jerk BBQ short rib steamed buns; and Jamaican pepper ribeye steak are for the UAE only — the restaurant’s first international location (which will be licensed).

A sister outlet, Melvin’s Juice Box, will open after Eid, serving organic cold press juices, healthy ‘bowls’ and fresh salads at lunchtime. Contact reservations@misslilysdxb.com
