Back in July, Gulf News got people to dedicate one day a week to eating green and leaving the meat out of their plates.

With the hashtag #VeganWednesday, social media users responded, by sharing pictures of their vegetarian or vegan meals, discussing their favourite recipes and encouraging each other to transform their diet to a lighter, greener, more organic one.

Instagrammer @thatlisaclare posted a picture of lasagna with this hashtag, and wrote: “Today will go down in history as the day I dished up a #vegan lasagna to my fussy [omnivorous] parents. They’ve now announced they want to eat vegan once a week. Baby steps, I guess!”

Another user, @sdrewstrength wrote: “I love my animal proteins. But, the quality of most of the meat we eat isn’t always the best. That’s why I add these vegan days one to two days a week – to give my body the proper nutrients and recovery that it needs.”

Join in the movement, by using #VeganWednesday in your posts. Share your recipes with us at readers@gulfnews.com.
