Greg Malouf is handing in his keys to Cle.

The Australian-born, Lebanese-origin chef on Monday announced he’s leaving Cle, the Dubai restaurant he set up in 2014.

The highly rated restaurant serves his signature take on modern Arabic cuisine but also took a turn towards being a nightlife spot, with ladies nights and a star-studded launch that saw the likes of Khloe Kardashian and Paris Hilton in attendance. No word yet on the future of the restaurant.

Malouf, who has authored seven books with his ex-wife, Lucy, will remain in Dubai to work on his next cookbook, again with Lucy.

“It is with regret that I announce my departure from Cle Dubai due to the expiration of my two-year contract. I would like to take this opportunity to thank the kitchen crew, service personnel, managers and owners for their constant support in raising awareness about Middle Eastern food. I would also like to thank the customers, suppliers, friends and family for the wonderful support. I will remain in Dubai researching book number eight, due out late 2017, and continue to lift the profile of contemporary Arabic food,” said Malouf in a statement.

He describes the new book as an exploration of the food culture of Beirut. His other books are New Feast: Modern Middle Eastern Vegetarian; Malouf: New Middle Eastern Food; Saraban; Turquoise; Saha; Moorish; and Arabesque.
