It’s Jumeirah Restaurant Week

It’s that time of year again: The restaurants of Jumeirah hotels around the UAE (and not globally, as in previous years) chop their prices for ten days only, giving diners the chance to try out their dishes for a fraction of the price.

Over 40 restaurants in the group are included, serving three-course set menus across four price tiers: Dh95 at 13 casual restaurants, such as D&A or Perry and Blackwelder’s; Dh120 at 10 premium casual restaurants (Shimmers, Alfies); Dh180 at 15 high-end restaurants (Ivy, Rivington, Rib Room) and finally, Dh370 at three top-end outlets: Junsui, Al Iwan and Pierchic. Bookings are absolutely recommended, and if you want more, check out the #MyJRW experiences app. Share your Jumeirah Restaurant Week meal using Periscope (which livestreams via Twitter, but only for Apple users) to win a progressive dinner at Jumeirah Emirates Towers for four.

Afternoon tea, Chelsea Flower Show style

This has to be the prettiest way to spend an afternoon we’ve seen in a while: Atlantis is celebrating its presence at the annual Chelsea Flower Show in London by partnering with local florist Al Lokrit International and TWG Tea for their Ossiano tea.

In addition to a flower-themed menu and large-scale floral sculptures, there are also flower-themed spa treatments, all on May 22 and 23, 2-5pm, from Dh295-450. Dishes include lobster profiteroles and Soucy flowers; smoked salmon, cucumber flowers and saffron pancakes; TWG Tea Oud night tea-infused milk chocolate crunchy mousse cake. Dinner guests at the restaurant from May 17-23, 7pm, can also enjoy the decor and flower dishes such as foie gras and hibiscus; toothfish and spring flowers; and orange blossom vacherin, from Dh770-2,500 (regular dinners are also available); call 04-4262626.

Burgers of the world at Hard Rock Cafe Dubai

Forget globe-trotting rock bands. On the Eat Out page, it’s global food trends we care about, and the burger is still sitting at the top of the charts. So it’s only apt at the Hard Rock Cafe is putting their Local Legendary burgers for a Dubai centrestage from May 15-June 30.

The menu is a setlist of five unique burger recipes from the restaurant chain’s international outlets from five continents. Those five were chosen from 150 local burgers, and include the Dubai local burger, which is topped with date chutney, soft kholas dates and cheese. The burgers are: The Marimba Burger (Guatemala, with chipotle and jalapeno spiced layer of beans, guacamole and crispy tortilla chips); Mumbai’s Tandoori dark meat chicken burger; China’s Sweet & Sour (fried onion ring, bell peppers and grilled pineapple); the Spicy Texas from San Antonio (fresh jalapenos and jalapeno cream cheese).

Bussola’s summer holiday

The Westin Dubai’s open-air pizzeria is taking its annual break from June 1. The rooftop of the restaurant in the grounds of the hotel, overlooking the sea, is a great spot for lunch and a sundowner, so make the most of the last two weeks before it closes for refurbishment for four months in the fine-dining restaurant downstairs (the pizzeria upstairs will remain the same, we are promised).

There will be booth-style seating, a larger bar and lounge area, wine cellar and cured meat chamber. “We are incredibly excited to begin the refurbishment of what is essentially a Dubai institution,” says Tolga Lacin, the hotel’s GM. “The team has worked hard to ensure that the new Bussola will keep the authentic Italian charm that we know our guests love, whilst offering an even better dining experience with the same pricing strategy.”
